This is a genuine mammoth fossil, dating back to the last Ice Age, and is approximately 10,000 - 20,000 years old. Mammoth tusk is a great material for knife and pistol grips, inlays, jewelry, pens, and other semi-precious applications.
 
Working With Mammoth Ivory:
These fossils are not yet petrified, though you may see limited mineralization. The tusks are still soft enough to work with regular tools you would use for horn and bone. Just keep them sharp.
